Coriole Lloyd Reserve Shiraz 2014

One of Langton's classified wines of Australia, Lloyd Reserve Shiraz is produced from a single vineyard at Coriole that was planted in 1919.

- Winery Note -
Luscious and layered aromas of black fruit, roasted spices, dark chocolate & a subtle note of marzipan. The palate is deliciously complex with intense fruit; plum, boysenberry & rhubarb. An elegant wine with great balance and restrained use of oak. A thoroughly concentrated and textured wine that will confidently cellar for the next 10-20 years.

"It's easy to be seduced by the beautiful deep purple colour but it's the flavours, the palate that really matter. They star in this complex wine. Savoury toned, full-bodied, ripe and concentrated and yet, there's this line of definition and detail. The oak, sitting at 30% new French hogsheads, is seamlessly integrated."
96 Points, James Halliday

"Deep red colour with a faint tinge of purple. The bouquet is mellow and earthy, developed and savoury, the palate very intense and concentrated, powerful, lively and long. The tannins are emphatic but balanced. An excellent wine, built to age."
95 Points, Huon Hooke

"I’m not a great fan of 2014 for Shiraz in McLaren Vale, but Coriole have turned out a good one here.
Black fruit, dark mint chocolate, nougat, earth and a little spice, with oak in support, rather than taking centre stage. Medium to full bodied, inky and dark, that wonderful ferrous character running through its veins, fleshy grainy tannin, almost a boysenberry sweetness, and a rumble of earthy bass on a long finish. Really good. Authentic. Age-worthy."

94+ Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

Coriole Reserve Mary Kathleen 2014

Mary Kathleen is named after Lloyd family matriarch, Mary Kathleen Lloyd, one of Coriole’s founders. It is produced from three small, select vineyards on Coriole estate, planted between 1968 and 1986.

Coriole Sparta Shiraz 2016

Sparta is from the Galaxidia vineyard, planted in 1998, and surrounded by olive trees. The original owners of this vineyard came from the countryside surrounding Sparta, an area much loved by Coriole founder Mary ‘Molly’ Lloyd. The soils are Terra Rossa - red brown earth over limestone.

- Winery Note -
This is a classic McLaren Vale Shiraz. A savoury nose of burnished leather, ground anise, polished mahogany and blackberry bramble. A plush palate offering up a bounty of forest fruits and mellow oak. The Sparta is a fruit driven Shiraz made to enjoy in its youth though will cellar well. Tannins are soft and approachable with great fruit length.
