"Cabernet has taken plenty of knocks over the last little bit. Reinvention has drawn some new fans, but thoughtful classic expressions deserve more attention. Case in point. Mulberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, cedar, pepper, violet, a fringe of leafiness, sans greenness. It’s varietally direct and linear, with oak quietly shaping and honing, the feel savoury and vibrant. The Lloyd family founded Coriole in 1967, and are considered pioneers in the McLaren Vale region, and visionaries in the planting of Italian and French varieties. Long before it was fashionable, Mark Lloyd developed vineyards of Sangiovese, Picpoul, Chenin Blanc, Nero d’Avola, and others, plus of course, Shiraz. They are considered one of the leading lights of the region.
