Derwent Estate Calcaire Pinot Noir 6pk
Derwent Estate Calcaire Pinot Noir 2023
Sourced from blocks where the topsoil is at its shallowest and the wine shows the strongest influence of limestone, the Calcaire Pinot Noir shows a clear, mineral line of acidity and silky tannins.
Derwent Estate Calcaire Pinot Noir 2023
"Quite a deep purple-red colour and bright in the glass. Lovely dark cherry to dark plum aromas, the fruit driving it and oak very sensitively handled. Lovely balance, intensity and shape. Soft, refined tannins and good length. A delicious young pinot noir that will only improve with time, building extra complexity." 95 Points, Huon Hooke, Real Review
Derwent Estate Calcaire Pinot Noir 2021
"Derwent River pinot noir, 40% whole bunches, 100% new oak. Bright ruby in the glass with aromas of red cherry, cranberry, red plum and raspberries cut with hints of exotic spice, amaro herbs, purple flowers, undergrowth, roast game and earth. There's some nice clarity and detail on the palate, pure red and dark cherry and berry fruits, fine tannins providing the frame and a bright minerally line providing the drive." Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
Derwent Estate, planted on the historic Mt Nassau property just north of Hobart, has been in the same family since 1913. With three generations involved in the family business today, this genuine cool climate site on north-facing, Calcareous soil slopes has gained a reputation for consistent, outstanding quality fruit, most notably Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. They approach the vineyard with a gentle management philosophy; and a purpose-built winery completed in 2013 made with straw bales cleverly retains the ideal natural ground temperature for the production and maturation of the wines.
