Fire Gully Chardonnay 2025

"From a very good Margaret River vintage. 25% new oak. 43% malo. 20-30 year old vines.Here’s a richer and more juicy style of Chardonnay with something of a creamy feel, but also has shapely grapefruity acidity to keep it on the rails. Pine-lime, some cedar and spice, generous in flavour, a little chalkiness to texture, offering excellent length with a subtle nutty aftertaste. "I went to write ‘Pierro Fire Gully’ then remembered and deleted the Pierro bit, despite the Pierro bit being part of the Fire Gully bit. Minutiae.
A swift and swish chardonnay that delivers a good hit of expected stone fruit richness married to sweet, brown spices, green apple crunch, a haze of sea spray and a dash of cedary-clovey savouriness. A crispness feels inherent to the wine regardless of laid back power and polish. Maybe a little peaky in that acid line?
