Jane Eyre Corton Grand Cru Rouge 2023

A blend of two parcels at either end of the eastern slope of the hill, where both plots are situated in the middle. 70% whole bunch and no new oak (amen!)” Interesting tasting this alongside a few of Jane’s Australian wines. Anyway, It’s Côte de Beaune where we have Pommard, Volnay and Corton, Côte de Beaune’s only grand cru vineyard.
"Cherry, strawberry,  peppermint, quite some spice, including nutmeg and cinnamon, and a subtle earthiness. It’s a squishy red-fruited affair, spicy and sappy, a grainy and cinnamon dusty feel to tannin, dry and firm on a finish of good length. It’s a very good wine, better in the future, as such." 94+ Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

"A new supplier for 2023. 80% whole bunch vinification. A lively ruby crimson colour. What starts quietly becomes remarkably juicy on the palate, with a wealth of red cherry-raspberry fruit, delivering good intensity and persistence. A gorgeous fine long aftertaste." Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

About this Producer

Jane Eyre is an Australian micro-négociant who has been living and working in Beaune for more than 20 years. She made a distinct mark in Burgundy in 2021 when she was awarded a coveted Négociant of the Year award for her label of distinguished wines with a focus on Pinot Noir. Jane also returns to Australia each year to make a line of terroir-driven Pinot Noir bottlings from exceptional sites in Victoria and Tasmania. There is a lightness of touch thread to her wines from both continents that attracts a strong following.
