Jane Eyre Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2023

"From vines around 30 years old; native-yeast ferment with 20% whole bunches; matured in French oak (20% new) for 10 months. This is the most compressed of the Australian pinot trio, playing a little more savoury presently. Sour cherries, cranberries, lightly earthy with brown spices, the tannins reinforcing the savoury impression. Like the other two wines in this release, that balance of refined fruit purity and natural structure is artfully handled, the extraction à point. This just needs a little longer to show all its charms." 95 Points, Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion

From 30 year old dry-grown vines (Syme on Yarra, Gruyere). Hand-picked and sorted. 20% whole bunch. 20% new oak.
"Cherry, ripe strawberry, sweet spices, dried roses, with something a bit more earthy here, which adds an extra dimension and complexity to the wine. It’s medium-bodied, red fruit and rhubarb, a cool almost blood orange tang to acidity, fine dusty tannin, pulling dry and firm on a gently sappy finish of excellent length, a twist of orange peel to close. Stylish. It’s Yarra, but there’s also something of a Burgundy character about it, which is interesting." 94 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

About this Producer

Jane Eyre has become a reputable name in Burgundy, reaching great heights in 2021 after being awarded the prestigious Négociant of the Year award by La Revue du Vin de France. Each year she returns to her home state of Victoria, as well as Tasmania, to produce a line of terroir-driven Pinot Noirs in limited quantities from exceptional sites. There is a cohesive style across both the French and Australian Pinot Noirs, a thread of clarity and expression of vintage and place, that has built a strong following.
