Few stories can be told about modern Australian wine without mentioning the amazing rise of Margaret River, and Leeuwin Estate as a pioneer. Founded by Denis and Tricia Horgan in 1979, it is the star estate of Margaret River’s southern area; with a particular pedigree in its famed Chardonnay, but also relatively recent acclaim for Cabernet and Shiraz.

Hello to the taste of Leeuwin Chardonnay at a very fair price.
Pear, green mango, a little dusty spice here too and slight struck match. It’s flavoursome, but fine-boned, gently chalky, juicy but tight, with a cinnamon and zesty lime finish of very good length. Excellent. Classy. Touch and go for 94 points really.

Leeuwin Estate Prelude Chardonnay 2022
I like the way this complements the Art Series chardonnay and has its own distinct personality. It gently reveals flavours of melon, stone fruit, ginger spice and beeswax. It’s rich and ripe, tangy and juicy, fuller bodied and so easy to enjoy. Good drinking now.
