Few stories can be told about modern Australian wine without mentioning the amazing rise of Margaret River, and Leeuwin Estate as a pioneer. Founded by Denis and Tricia Horgan in 1979, it is the star estate of Margaret River’s southern area; with a particular pedigree in its famed Chardonnay, but also relatively recent acclaim for Cabernet and Shiraz.
Leeuwin Estate Siblings Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Sure, this has its fair share of tropical fruit flavours – think passionfruit and feijoa – but it’s also full of refreshing lemon and lime, fresh basil and a tantalising aroma of wet stones. The palate is juicy, lively with talc-like acidity and, best of all, not at all cloying, so another glass, please.

Leeuwin Estate Siblings Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Tasted alongside the Art Series of the same vintage, and same same, but different. This a bit more crunchy and direct, less complex, but still good.
Passionfruit, lime rind, citrus, guava, a little cedar and spice. It has crunch and freshness, a sort of gin and tonic bite, gentle dusty texture, and a bright and tangy finish of good length and vigour, Nicely done. Good to drink.
