Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Elsa 2022

"94/6% sauvignon blanc/semillon, separately vinified; hand picked, whole-bunch pressed, cultured yeast seeded, fermentation in stainless steel controlled to a maximum of 20˚C; at the halfway mark transferred to French barriques (6% new) to complete fermentation and full mlf; matured in barrel for nine months. It is a wine that takes no prisoners, its complexity and depth proving yet again that Margaret River holds all the cards for this blend, both now or in 10 years time." 95 Points, James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion

"Serious sauvignon with white peach, nectarine, spicy French oak, oyster shell, and a hint of feijoa. Taut, invigorating wine with mouthwatering acidity that gives the wine energy and a lingering finish.
Drink: 2023–2028" 95 Points, Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review

"Sauvignon blanc that takes you into another zone. Full malolactic fermentation contributes to its rich generous creamy texture while the use of oak, with about 6% new, adds a defining lift through the palate. The nose offers all manner of things from melon, spices and pear with a varietal gooseberry note. On the palate you get into even more, with layers of honey and lemon curd quite dominant. It’s almost languid and effortless but gathers pace to a long finish. Cellar: 10 years" 95 Points, Ray Jordan

"A Savvy that is a million miles from the typical, simple, flavour bombs so prevalent these days. And all the better for it. Complexity and texture are the keys here.
A gentle lemon hue. We have ripe tropical notes, which are quite exotic and exuberant. Dried apricots, figs, fresh peaches and spices. The merest whiff of vanillin oak with lemon butter on toast. There is complexity here, with balance, length and intensity. A flick of acidity running along that supple and seductive texture. Good focus. Expect this to age well over the next 6 to 8 years and become even more interesting. This might be Savvy, but not as you know it." 93 Points, Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot

"Pale colour. Attractive lemon curd, lime, tonic water aromas with hints of grilled nuts. Refreshing palate with lovely lemon grass, lime, touch tropical fruit/ lychee notes, fine looseknit chalky textures and fresh indelible/ crunchy acidity. Vibrant and expressive. Ready to drink or keep for a while." 92 Points, Andrew Caillard, Wine Pilot

"There’s plenty about this wine. Quality release. Nose – White peach, pear, guava, lychee, generous yet focused with a gooseberry citrus tightness, dried grassy qualities, and hints of toasted oak spice.
Palate – Medium-bodied, rich, balanced. White stonefruit with a sweeter tropical core, peach, guava, and gooseberry crunchiness. Plenty of volume and impact here, though the line and focus remains strong. Very good length, very well made, much to enjoy." Edward Agg, The Cellar Post

"Straw with a touch of lime and a floral and highly aromatic nose of honeysuckle, gardenia and frangipani with guava, yellow pear, Piel de Sapo melon, snow peas, Chantilly, nougat, cashew and lime cordial. There’s a touch of salinity in the background too. In the mouth it’s rich, creamy and fulsome, but balanced well by a line of bouncy acidity that drives a core of ripe fruit, hints of leafiness and caramel-nutty oak. Lovely balance and length. A chew of fine tannins hold from the midpalate onwards and it ends on a nectar like hum of fruits. YUM!" Marc Malouf, Wint Worth Writing About
