    "Due to the multilayered nature of Mount Pleasant's old-vine wines, they need air to reveal their inner beauty. This memorable wine is made from three diverse blocks planted in 1965, which lie within the historic Rosehill Vineyard. It initially presents with a quality, nutty oak overlay and freshly crushed greens. But after a short time, the fruit stretches and unfurls, revealing incredible richness and depth. The dark, plush nature of the fruit is satisfying and intriuging, with clove notes and bunchy green peppercorn spice. The acidity is integrated, the tannins are lithe, and there's a thread of lemon peel freshness on the close.     "Deep red-purple colour; pepper, terracotta/earthy and faintly stemmy aromas, the palate full-bodied and firmly structured, with tremendous persistence.     "GW: Lots of dried rose and potpourri, ripe raspberry, green tea and jasmine, subtle liquorice. Medium-bodied, really quite juicy sweet berry wine here, with a little vanilla cream, spice, a bouncy dry chew to tannin, a light ‘mineral’ feel to acidity, and a plush finish of good length. Lots of content here, just needs some time to settle into bottle. 94+ points.

    KS: Green tea leafiness, a suggestion of mint, fresh button mushrooms, umami tones and lead-led minerality. Lots of floral prettiness, but not sickly-sweet, more herbal-citrusy blossoms like jasmine. Dried raspberries. The tannins are tightly packed and fine-grained. Plenty of dark fruit intensity with fresh coffee beans in flavours with a bit creamy oak in the mid-palate and an excellent length. About this Producer

    The famed estate of Mount Pleasant has a well-storied past, founded by the visionary of Australian wine, Maurice O’Shea. It includes plantings of ancestral vines of 1880, as well as Australia’s oldest mother vine Pinot Noir planted in 1921 by O’Shea himself. It is the home of some of the first fine wines of Australia, and with just five winemakers over its 100-year history, it has maintained its status as a benchmark of the Hunter classics, Shiraz and Semillon.
