Mr. Brightside Eurotrash 6pk 2021
Winemaker Ben (Mr.) Riggs follows the philosophy “iconic wines from iconic regions”. Whether it’s McLaren Vale Shiraz, Coonawarra Cabernet, or Clare Valley Riesling, his wines are expressing the essence of the vineyard and variety in a style that is big, rich and complex, but also with finesse, texture and elegance. In Ben’s own words: “Think Ella Fitzgerald – bombastic and powerful with a huge vocal range, yet with purity of tone and a gentle sensibility when needed.”
Mr Brightside Eurotrash 2021
An ersatz field blend of sangiovese/cabernet/tempranillo/shiraz/ montepulciano. This is loads of fun, with a gritty, almost rocky structural focus evoking wines of the Italian Mediterranean or Catalunya, a core of saturated dark fruits, a swab of tapenade, bergamot and aniseed confirming. Mid-weighted of feel, with a pliant raft of tannin, a bit ferrous, galvanising the flavours while subduing any obvious fruit sweetness into a sort of easygoing tension. A wine of considerable personality built for everyday guzzling.
