Parker Estate 95 Block Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot 2022

"A little more Petit Verdot (19%) than sometimes employed in the past is blended here with Cabernet Sauvignon (81%).  It was a cool season in Coonawarra, and it has resulted in a lovely understated quality to Block 95. Indeed, it’s still pretty tight and young with time definitely on its side. Deep red in colour.  Offers a tight bundle of flavour well controlled and structured in fine, lithe tannins with plush fruit. Black fruits, dark plum, dark woody spices, red earth, dried herbs, chocolate. Cedar and pencil lead/graphite tones are noted and nicely well integrated following 16 months in barrel. At this stage in its life, this is essentially a wine about structure, structure, structure through a prism of ripe Coonawarra Cabernet flavours. It offers a serious depth of fruit intensity and dried herbs with Petit Verdot backbone. It’s a good varietal match." 95 Points, Jeni Port, Wine Pilot

"Deep crimson. Plush, generous aromas of blackberry, graphite and new leather with spicy, cedar notes. Weighty fruit and tannins to follow with fresh acidity driving a long and strong finish. Drink 2028–2036" 95 Points, The Vintage Journal

"81/19% cabernet sauvignon/petit verdot. Matured in 40% new French oak for 18 months' maturation. The red belly of this wine shines bright with pomegranate, goji and redcurrants. Some tobacco, espresso and allspice come forth. Blackberries in the background. A richness of brown spices and maple leaf. Granular tannins and some Fernet bitterness on the finish. This is showing its savoury side, along with its spice and meaty tones. It's really hitting its stride now." 92 Points, Shanteh Wale, Halliday Wine Companion

About this Producer

"Parker Estate's Abbey Vineyard represents the ambitions and ideals of contemporary generations, where heritage and modernity are beautifully blended." Andrew Caillard MW, The Vintage Journal Verticals

Since its first release in 1988, the name Parker Coonawarra has represented outstanding quality, longevity and elegance from the region. Based in the very southern end of the Terra Rossa strip, the wines have always embodied a fine, long-lived, classic style. The Hesketh family became the custodians of the vision for Parker in 2013, and have continued with these ideals. The wines offer an exceptional insight into why the Coonawarra region became famous for powerful yet delicious cabernet. This includes a Langton's classification for the flagship First Growth bottling.
