Reviews & Accolades

    Parker Estate Kidman Shiraz 2022

"Leaves a big impression from the very first swish of the glass and the lifted scent, aromatic, enticing, complex and rich in aniseed, black fruits, plum, earth and mint. Effortless springs to mind. This has the authority that comes with old vines and the kind of seamless beauty delivered through good winemaking. Fruit is sourced off Blocks 1 and 2, old vines planted in 1969, and located on the famous Coonawarra terra rossa cigar strip. It is a pure expression of place, as pure as you will get, with fabulous depth and intensity of fruit, spice and a touch of regional mint that really lifts. A light veneer of cedar and woodsy spice comes together in harmony with fine tannins. Highlights the beauty of a grape that lives forever in the shadow of Cabernet in Coonawarra. More power to Coonawarra Shiraz!" 97 points, Jeni Port - Wine Pilot

"Maturation in 25% new oak hogshead for 16 months. The Kidman Block was planted in '69. Crushed violets, blood plum and acaí berry sorbet. Fruit is wrapped with a careful oak caress that uplifts the fruit and spotlights the dried spices like cumin, pepperberry and anise. Alluring and seductive." 95 Points, Shanteh Wale, Halliday Wine Companion

"A rustic type, this Kidman Shiraz opens up a treat. The Parker Coonawarra wines have stepped up in recent years with Ox Hardy at the helm and this is a quality drink well worth tucking away. From 50 year old vines that reach deep into the renowned Terra Rossa soil that has made Coonawarra so famous, it opens with scents of cola, licorice and rich earth before dark fruits and berries step forward. Dutch cocoa and chocolate fondant muse with fine, dusty tannins on a moreish and lengthy finish. Stay a while and an ever so subtle shimmer of mint reveals itself. Run with this and it will whisk you away but patience is the key. Drink to ten years+" 94 Points, Steve Lescyzinski, QWine

"Lovely colour, youthful red and bright. Pure aromas of satsuma plum, spice, white pepper, bramble and nutty oak. Plenty of complexity here. Firm, fleshy and with plenty of sweet, juicy dark fruited power. The tannins are granular and firm and the acidity brings plenty of brightness and cut to the palate. Generously flavoured, but with plenty of structured seriousness." 93 Points, Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

About this Producer

"Parker Estate's Abbey Vineyard represents the ambitions and ideals of contemporary generations, where heritage and modernity are beautifully blended." Andrew Caillard MW, The Vintage Journal Verticals

Since its first release in 1988, the name Parker Coonawarra has represented outstanding quality, longevity and elegance from the region. Based in the very southern end of the Terra Rossa strip, the wines have always embodied a fine, long-lived, classic style. The Hesketh family became the custodians of the vision for Parker in 2013, and have continued with these ideals. The wines offer an exceptional insight into why the Coonawarra region became famous for powerful yet delicious cabernet. This includes a Langton's classification for the flagship First Growth bottling.
