Pegasus Bay Merlot Cabernet 2019

"Big, brooding, earthy, Bordelais style with red currant fruit, bitter chocolate orange, pipe tobacco and a distinct tomato-leaf herbal note. It certainly has a lot going on. One judge found the wine full-bodied, nicely weighted with rich, chewy tannins and positive length while the other thought the tannins a little too extractive for the weight of the wine." 93 Points, Stephen Bennett MW, Lynnette Hudson, New Zealand Wine Rater

"From estate-grown vines over 30 years old, the 2019 vintage of this Waipara Valley, North Canterbury red is a Merlot-based blend, with smaller portions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. It was matured for 18 months in French oak barriques (25% new).
